The Girl Scout Silver Award is the highest award a Girl Scout Cadette can earn, achieved by identifying an issue in your community and creating a "Take Action" project that provides a lasting change. Your project has to be sustainable and make a change in your community. Sustainability makes the silver award different from other community service projects. Only 10% of Girl Scouts earn the Silver Award nationwide.
What is the Issue?
A common challenge for many young athletes is that they are unaware of the proper way to fuel their bodies. You've heard your coaches or parent say "pack healthy snacks and drink lots of water." Well what does that mean exactly? Also, we are flooded with information on social media but much of it is misinformation.
Without proper guidance, athletes may not be prepared for the endurance needed for challenging practices, game days and long tournaments.
This issue is important to me because I myself am an athlete and sometimes struggle with not knowing what to eat or how to fuel my body.
Recently, I partnered with a nutritionist and a personal trainer as a project advisor to dive deeper into how young athletes like me can learn to eat in a balanced way for energy, recovery, and long-term success.
